3/20/20 - Update from El Jefe's owner John Schall:

First and foremost we at El Jefe's hope that you and your families are doing as well as

possible as we face this pandemic together. This is a time when being a community and

taking care of each other matters most.

Second, I wanted to tell you what we are doing at El Jefe's specifically.

  1. We are remaining OPEN for take out and delivery in both of our locations for our normal operating hours: (8 am to 4 am at our Harvard Square location and 8 am to 3 am at our Bethlehem location). We encourage everyone to order online for takeout. To order now click here.

  2. At this time and until further notice, guided by the CDC and local governments we are operating for pickup and delivery only. All seats and tables have been removed from our restaurants. We have removed all shared items, including our famous hot sauce wall until this crisis ends.

  3. We are providing paid sick leave for all of our staff. So any of our staff who get sick or even suspect they might have been exposed to the virus will be told to stay home and will still receive pay. This will help to ensure that we keep our staff and customers healthy.

  4. We will continue to prioritize the safety and health of our customers as our number one objective. In addition to our normal food safety precautions, we are sanitizing all commonly touched areas, like door handles, credit card machines, food pickup areas, and soda machines hourly. We will also do a full sanitation clean of each restaurant every night when we close.

  5. We will be asking people waiting in line to order food to stay 6 feet from each other and the staff as much as possible. We've even marked the floors to help you out.

Over the last week as more communities, including the federal government, have called for increased social distancing to help contain the virus, we have been constantly evaluating our operations to keep our customers, our staff and their families safe and healthy. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully and adopt any new practices and procedures as necessary to continue to protect our communities while staying open to ensure you have access to the best burritos and tacos in town.

We hope everyone stays healthy and safe during this difficult time. Please take care of those in need and if you are ordering takeout or delivery, please order El Jefe’s. To order now click here!
